Mani Monday #5

It’s Monday, you know what that means…Another Mani Monday!

This week I went a little girly and had a pink mani with the prettiest glitter for the ring finger, and for once, there is NO Barry M nail paint AT ALL. Not one bit. – I do like to be a rebel sometimes…

So this post is dedicated to Collection 2000, No 7 and erm… Asda glitter.

Basically I love glitter and as gorgeous as some glitter polishes can be, nothing quite does it like actual glitter.

Just look at how pretty.

So here’s how:

After cleaning, priming, and base-coating, I used the pale pink from Collection 2000 (I’m unsure of the shade as it’s faded) and painted 3 thin layers to get a good coverage and no smudging.

For the ring finger I used my favourite base coat – Sally Hansen’s Continuous Growth Treatment – and while it’s still sticky, sprinkle the glitter on and gently push it in so it really sticks.

Next I used the No 7 Glitter Top Coat as it is very close to the colour of the glitter, and adds some depth to the shine. You could also use this as a top coat over the pink as it is a very subtle glitter, but I really wanted the ring finger to stand out.

Buying a pack of glitter comes in handy for your nails, especially at Christmas, as you can really make them stand out.

I hope you have a fabulous Monday!

Sales Sales Sales

We are all led to believe the big Boxing Day Sale to hit is Next, thanks to the incessant adverts and selfless promotion which bombards us until Christmas.

But, come Boxing Day morning, crisp and cold, I parked up outside Next, strolled right passed the crowd, and headed next door into Boots. It was 9am and although some of those women milling around had been there since 4am – true story – it was Boxing Day and I should’ve been at home in a mince pie coma. But the sales were calling.

I chose Boots to get some amazing deals on box sets, then hit Laura Ashley for a few candles and room spray. Here are some of my purchases:

Soap & Glory Once Upon a Lime // Betty & Walter Bath Salts // Umberto Giannini Full Volume Hair Kit // Laura Ashley Candle and Room Spray in Christmas Pomander // Laura Ashley Glitter Candle in Christmas Pomander // No7 Glitter Nail Varnish Set

Soap & Glory Once Upon a Lime – was £18 now £9

What’s in the box:

  • Sugar Crush Body Wash (which doubles as bath bubbles)
  • Sugar Crush Moisture-Extreme Re-energising Body Buttercream
  • Mini Sugar Crush Body Scrub
  • Pink Exfoliator

With the sweet brown sugar and lime scent, these mouth-watering products really do smell good enough to eat. I especially love the body scrub, as it leaves skin feeling so soft and smooth and isn’t too rough on my particularly dry skin.

Betty & Walter Bath Salts – was £6 now £3

Initially it was the cute jar and scoop that made me pick up these salts, but they smell beautiful with soothing fig and pink pepper to really help melt away your stress. I’m a sucker for new products as this is the first time I have tried anything from Betty & Walter, and I have high hopes for this product.

Umberto Giannini Full Volume Hair Kit – was £16 now £8

I have a lot of hair – and I don’t like getting haircuts – so I have a lot to tame. I love the big hair look so the combination of the mousse and volume spray really caught my eye. The rollers are in a cute gold colour, but I don’t know how well that will go with the length of my hair. There will be a full tutorial on this set shortly.

Laura Ashley Boxed Candle, Room Spray and Glitter Candle in Christmas Pomander – was £14, £10 and £16 now £7, £5 and £8 respectively.

The Laura Ashley Sale for home accessories in my opinion is one of the best – beautiful candles with complementing diffusers are just the start. The room sprays are in a league of their own, and the Christmas Pomander is by far my favourite. The scent is light and fruity with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and mulled wine with a slight vanilla scent, perfect for making your home smell like Christmas.

No7 Glitter Nail Varnish Set was £13 now £6.50

Well I love a good nail varnish, and No7 are definitely in my list of top hard-wearing varnishes. The range of colours and glitter is what made me pick up this little treat box. I especially love the pink glitter top coat, which will be perfect for a ring finger mani. My review will be here soon.

Mani Monday – Barry M Magenta Glitter

Barry M Sally Hansen Nails

Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream // Sally Hansen Natural Nail Growth Revitalizer // Sally Hansen Continuous Growth Treatment for Natural Nails // Barry M Nail Paint in Magenta Glitter

Welcome to Mani Monday!

This week I’ve gone for a super sparkly pretty pink look.

I always start by cleaning any dirt from my nails – I actually use a toothbrush and whitening toothpaste so my natural nails stay stain free.

Then I rub Sally Hansen Cuticle Massage Cream on to my cuticles to soften them before using an orange stick to gently push them back.

Next I use Sally Hansen Natural Nail Growth Revitalizer to make my nails stronger (nine years of waitressing has ruined my lovely strong nails) as they can become quite brittle and tear easily. I will be posting a tutorial for fixing tears without cutting your nails shortly.

I then use the Sally Hansen Continuous Growth Treatment as a base coat to really strengthen my nails.

Now for the good bit…

I absolutely love love love anything that comes from Barry M, and their nail paint is at the top of my list. They are definitely hard-wearing and are super cheap for such high quality.

Glitter polishes are a pain to get off (tutorial for an a-maz-ing-ly easy way to remove glitter coming soon), but when you have to build up so many layers for the perfect look, it can be even harder, but totally worth it!

Here’s the glitter polish after just one coat, and then the final product after four coats.
