Welcome to Mani Monday #26, or technically, my Mani Monday #1 – having a job which saw me typing on a keyboard for nine hours a day, five days a week, meant my nails were rarely in a good enough condition to participate in our weekly feature.
But, one redundancy later (more on that bombshell to come), my claws are finally in shape and have had a little glitzy makeover which I thought I’d share.
Now, I am not a nail art expert – in fact, although I own enough nail varnishes to put Models Own out of business, I rarely do anything too fussy or fancy.
This mani took about ten minutes and consisted of three varnishes – Avon Nailwear Pro+ in shade P605 (not the catchiest of names), Models Own Magenta Divine and Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Clear.
Starting with the P605, which is a bright, punchy fuchsia as its snappy name suggests, I painted two coats (with drying time in between, obvs) before adding a thin layer of the Models Own glitter.
The clear varnish was then used to seal the deal, and et voila – a very simple, very glitzy mani.
Not bad for a first go, ay?

Happy Easter from everyone at the SWHH Team! We hope you have all enjoyed the long weekend and of course the Easter eggs.
So for this Mani Monday, I have been holding out on my Models Own collection specifically for this week!
I don’t know what or who inspired their Speckled Egg collection but to me, it’s the black glitter and pastel colours that create the perfect reminder of Mini Eggs and therefore Easter!
I have already raved about Models Own and once again nothing’s changed! I love this collection and the only downside is it needs a few coats and it (like all other glitter polishes) is a pain to remove!
If only I had Mini Eggs for a photo comparison but I’m afraid chocolate and I have a contract that goes way back: it acknowledges that if there is chocolate within my presence it will be eaten and I will enjoy every bite! Clearly after this weekend, I need to find a gym – never going to happen.

Welcome to Mani Monday! This weeks post is bought to you by our special guest blogger, Clare. She is equally as beauty obsessed as we are, and well, she loves a killer mani!
As of last week Models Own had a 6 for £20 offer on their products in Boots and well, who could refuse? Lots of my girlfriends have recommended their nail polish to me and although I’ve already got a few, I ‘ve been dying to try out the new HyperGels released earlier this month.
So far I have to say I’m impressed! Even though the selection of colours is limited to ten, they cover a range to suit everyones taste. The most exciting part for me is the Blue Glint colour, which is my ultimate favourite colour, but as it’s St Patrick’s day I just had to go with Turquoise Gloss – the greenest of them all.
Back to why they impress me. Firstly, they look like a professional gel! You have the mega-shine and the smoothness of a salon paint job. Although it needs two to three coats for even application, it dries without imperfection!
Secondly, the drying time is pretty quick. I’m used to taking an hour out of my day to give my nails drying time (usually on the couch while The Voice is on because my saturdays are that exciting). Shortly after painting I decided to “test” them with a bag of prawn crackers and as you can see in the photos there are no smudges or imprints! Though still slightly tacky for a time after, they are dry to the touch.
All in all, I’d suggest you get to boots and buy yourself a bottle! Especially if you find your nails don’t last long before chipping. The only downside is the brush applicator and the fact that you need to apply two coats for an even look.
I couldn’t resist a small clover to finish off the St Patrick’s Day theme . To create the flower I used a toothpick and a fine paint brush trimmed down. The toothpick also comes in handy while to help clean away any varnish around the cuticle to keep a clean professional look.
